Dear John Red State…

October 29, 2008

In this political season, I have grown tired of sarcasm-dripping commentary from both sides. Us vs. Them is getting old, especially since there is a third side … and fourth side … and so on. Nevertheless, this Dear John letter to the Red States reveals a few interesting tidbits about our state demographics. Dear Red [...]

Palin Says She Considers Herself Intellectual

October 23, 2008

As a colleague puts it: “Yes, this is real… Ya can’t make this stuff up.  OK, you can, but why bother?  This reads like an improv routine…” One the one hand, she does sport the sexy librarian look fairly well. Chilling Naomi Wolf Interview on Her Book “Give Me Liberty”

October 14, 2008

This is chilling. Naomi Wolf makes a compelling argument about the degradation of our civil rights today, not tomorrow. She talks about how we are under a coup today, not tomorrow. Among other things, she cites Rep. Brad Sherman talking about threats of martial law from the president if the bailout bill was not passed. She cites the deployment of troops, for the first time in over a hundred years, on American soil. And she continues:

Now you can say it’s America … it’s America and we have civilian law. … The president and his lawyers have successfully established a legal claim for the war on terror that the whole world is a battlefield. And so the whole world … you can call someone an enemy combatant, and, detain them, disappear them … even torture them. If the whole world is a battlefield and there are troops on the ground in America, how is America not a battlefield, legally. And, if the whole world is a battlefield and there are troops on the ground in America, how does military law not supersede civilian law?

It’s a 28-minute video, but it’s good stuff. Really, take a look at this…
